GAF Halibut Program

Through the Guided Angler Fish (GAF) program, Virgin Territory Charters is able to offer the unique opportunity for you to keep halibut that would normally be released due to size or bag limits (one per person, per day). The program effectively allows you to keep a larger or second fish, as well as to keep a halibut on any closed dates.

VTC leases quotas from commercial halibut IFQ (Individual Fishing Quota) shareholders. The quota transfer results in permits that allow for the retention of one halibut of any size. 

GAF permits may be purchased and added on to any package. Arrangement in advance is recommended as permit availability is limited.

• Price is based on commercial dock rates. 2026 rate TBD.
• GAF permits must be on the vessel when used and cannot be purchased retroactively. 
• GAF permits are not angler-specific and can be used by anyone in your party. 
• Groups can purchase multiple GAF permits which can be used concurrently or across days. 
• If left unused, we will retain the permit and you will not be responsible for cost.
