ADVENTURE MENU

Guided Fishing

Sitka is renowned as one of the most productive fisheries in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Its prime location gives access to both sheltered inside waters and the outer coast, allowing you to target a variety of species, including: salmon (king, silver, pink, sockeye, & chum), halibut, lingcod, black cod, shortraker, and other rockfish. With a combined 35 years’ experience, Captain Brian Oberreuter and Captain Brian Hulsey have both the knowledge and technique to help you land ‘em again and again.

If you’d like to target trophy halibut specifically, VTC offers the option to add GAF permits to any package. See the GAF Halibut Program page to learn more.

Shrimping & Crabbing

Enjoy a scenic boat ride along the Inside Passage on the way to drop your shrimp or crab pots. While they’re soaking, you can jig up rockfish, take in the surrounding views while enjoying a hot lunch off of the barbecue, or go soak at Goddard Hot Springs. Enjoy your harvest of shrimp (spot prawn or coonstriped) or crab (dungeness, tanner, or king) on the boat, for dinner at the lodge, or add it to your fish box to take home with you.

Ecotours & Whale-watching

Sitka sits within the Tongass National Forest, the world’s largest temperate rainforest, which boasts diverse habitats that support rich biodiversity. You can go whale-watching, see sea otters or sea lions, cruise the coastline looking for brown bears or Sitka black-tail deer, or turn your attention to feathered friends like puffins or albatross among other seabirds. It is a privilege to see these creatures in their natural habitats. Sitka is always putting on a show and we will make sure you don’t miss the viewing.

Goddard Hot Springs & Water Taxi Services

Goddard Hot Springs is a natural, low-sulfur hot spring located 16 miles south of Sitka and accessible only by boat. There are two stainless tubs with stunning ocean views—available on a first come, first serve basis. We are happy to taxi you to the hot springs for a half-day or all-day soak.

There are a number of Forest Service cabins, including Sevenfathom Bay Cabin and Kanga Bay Cabin, that are peppered around the many islands of the Alexander Archipelago that can be reserved. We offer water taxi services with scheduled pick-up and full outfitting of supplies so you can enjoy a truly wild, truly Alaskan adventure.
