All-inclusive bookings at VTC include: lodging, guided fishing with all bait and tackle, fishing licenses, unlimited fish processing, airport and in-town transportation, and housekeeping services. 


Alcohol and gratuity are not included. 


We provide a fully stocked refrigerator and pantry for your crew to prepare breakfasts to your liking. As for lunch, we provide sandwich supplies and n/a beverages on the boat as well as the possibility to grill on the water (dependent on conditions). Dinner can be enjoyed in downtown Sitka, or you can utilize the full kitchen at the lodge to cook something delicious—even your catch of the day. 


Please be sure to communicate any dietary restrictions or special requests for food prior to your arrival. 


VTC provides rubber boots and rain gear for on the water. As Sitka weather can change quickly, we recommend bringing warm layer-able clothing (performance, dry-wicking materials are ideal), sunglasses and sun protection, and anti-nausea medication for seasickness if needed. 


We strongly encourage traveling with a carry-on only to prioritize using checked luggage fees for fish boxes on your way home. 


Sitka is on Baranof Island and accessible only by boat or plane. It is a short 2-2.5 hour flight north-northwest of Seattle. Alaska Airlines offers multiple daily flights aboard spacious Boeing 737’s making your summer travel to Sitka a breeze. 


No experience is required. Our goal at VTC is to both get you on fish and to hone your ability to land them. Whether you’re a first-time angler or a seasoned fisherman, Captain Brian is at the helm providing instruction and assistance tailored to your group’s needs.


Yes. All anglers age 16 and older must have a valid Alaska Fishing License. Certain species, including halibut and king salmon, require additional stamps. Your fishing license and necessary stamps are included in your booking at VTC.


Upon your arrival in Sitka, one of our team members will be awaiting at the airport to shuttle you to the lodge. We will run through your customized itinerary, provide your fishing license, and outfit your rain gear. Throughout your stay, VTC offers on-demand shuttle services to get you where you need to go. At the end of your trip, we transport you and your processed fish to the airport and help with the check-in process. We strive to accommodate the smoothest experience possible so you can focus on enjoying yourself. 


Depending on the season and your specific goals, you may target: salmon (king, silver, pink, sockeye, & chum), halibut, lingcod, black cod, shortraker, and other rockfish. You also have the option to soak crab and shrimp pots. At VTC, we offer combination or species-specific outings and engage in ongoing conversation with you, our guests, to get you on the species you’d like to target and to, ultimately, create the trip you want to have. 


Yes. All-inclusive packages at VTC include unlimited fish processing—cleaning, filleting, portioning, vacuum sealing, and blast freezing. Fish is packed into insulated boxes up to 50 lbs. compliant with standard airline checked baggage requirements so you can continue to enjoy your catch well after your trip ends. 


The primary charter seasons runs mid-May through mid-September. The best time to fish in Sitka depends on the species you want to target. 

  • May–June: Prime king salmon and halibut fishing; lingcod, black cod, and rockfish available
  • July–August: Peak season for silvers, halibut, and mixed species including lingcod, black cod, and rockfish
  • September: Strong silver salmon runs; halibut, lingcod, black cod, and rockfish available


Fishing limits are issued by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game and have not yet been released for the 2026 season. Please stay tuned. 


Sitka is uniquely located with access to both the Outer Coast and Inside Passage. In the event of inclement weather, our guides will take you to protected inside waters. We adhere to U.S. Coast Guard safety requirements and closely monitor weather and sea conditions to ensure a safe experience.
